Trio Subtonic

Trio Subtonic is a groove-heavy power trio out of Portland, Oregon that blends genre bending funk with slow burning underground soul jazz. Led by keyboardist Galen Clark, Subtonic explores a coalescence of rock, soul, funk, and jazz that simultaneously draws in listeners and pushes boundaries. Creating a sonic footprint reserved for more than just three people, Subtonic delivers soulful grooves, expansive improvisations, and a deep pocket that compels audiences to try dance moves they didn't know they had.

3 Leg Torso

3 Leg Torso formed in 1996 as a violin, cello, and accordion trio with the mission of creating original modern chamber music for their unique instrumentation. Over the following years, the ensemble has expanded both its musical mission and its size to become a quartet that now performs original compositions based on an eclectic synthesis of chamber music, tango, klezmer, Latin, and Roma (Gypsy) music. As principal composers, founding members Béla R. Balogh (violin, trumpet, octave mandolin) and Courtney Von Drehle (accordion, saxophone) provide the core of 3 Leg Torso's sound. They are joined by the consummate mallets & percussion of T.J. Arko and the gentleman of the acoustic bass, Bill Athens.

Superjazzers

Superjazzers will appeal to fans of Keith Jarrett’s 1970s European Quartet. The Superjazzers have been playing original music together for over a decade. They combine eclectic compositional styles and improvisation providing a memorable experience for audiences. Pianist David Goldblatt carries shades of icons such as Jarrett and Fred Hersch. Holding down the rhythmic force of the group, bassist Bill Athens and drummer Charlie Doggett work together masterfully to establish a lush backdrop that ebbs and flows with the quartet’s dramatic musical landscape.
